It's possible to recover the items that are stored only on the mini SD card. You can't restore items that were stored on the internal storage partition because it's not possible.
If the files were on the SD card, then connect that SD card to PC using a card reader and install Recuva. Point Recuva to scan the card and enable Deep Scan to improve accuracy.
Once you find the files, use right click and restore them to another partition on your PC.
