Problems with sound

Recently I've had some problems playing back any sort of media. At regular intervals the audio freezes/skips for a second and makes a loud grinding noise, then resumes.

This happens because a driver is not compatible with the operating system where it's installed. To overcome this issue, simply re-install a new driver for your wireless or audio device. I have experienced the same issue as well and most likely it's an IRQ conflict. Replacing the driver with an updated one should fix this issue and restore functionality of audio playback.

You can find the driver on the manufacturer's website. You can get the model from Device manager (Start > Run > devmgmt.msc).
