This is commonly encountered when the email service disabled graphics in your email. To enable it, simply open the email with the activation code and look for a text that says: Show images or Show email graphics. Once activated, the email will look normally with all the graphical elements. Click the desired link/button and that's it.
Alternatively, there should be a link that already contains the activation code. Click it and the account should be confirmed automatically.
