This phone is working on GSM mode, more precisely on GSM 900 / 1800 MHz. It's possible that the different region to sell different versions of the phone with the CDMA support. I couldn't find a way to unlock it which means either the carrier from where you bought it from could unlock it for you or at your local service shop. You just need to pay a small fee to unlock the phone. The process takes a few minutes without wiping your data.
