Check the file you are trying to load/import because it's possible that it's too large or not supported. There is no list with the compatible file formats, but you can simply use File > Open to check exactly what are the supported file formats. Additionally, make sure the software is installed and working properly and all the pre-requisities are also installed and functioning well.
